The Institute of Directors 2008 South East Director of the Year
Awards will take place on Tuesday 25 November in the prestigious
Nash Room at the Institute of Directors, Pall Mall, London
commencing at 7.00pm with a Reception and followed by Dinner at 7.30pm.
Tickets for the evening, including a formal reception and a fabulous
meal prepared by Executive Chef, Roger Evans, are now on sale. So,

Guest Speaker
We are delighted to announce that Frances Edmonds, Best-selling
Writer and Broadcaster has agreed to join us as our Guest Speaker.
Frances Edmonds (www.francesedmonds.co.uk) is an acclaimed expert in
cross-cultural communication and a seasoned keynote speaker and moderator at
international events.
She has also been voted Britain's most amusing and entertaining female speaker
in a survey by The Times. A best-selling author and broadcaster, she holds a
Masters degree in Modern languages from Cambridge University.
After training as an international conference interpreter with the European
Commission in Brussels, she worked for all the major international organisations
(including the annual World Economic Summits for heads of state and
government) before publishing her first, highly controversial book, "Another
Bloody Tour." Here subsequent books on sport, politics, self-help and motivation
and her works of fiction all met with critical acclaim.
After creating a highly successful specialist construction company, Frances was
elected Fellow of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs and a Fellow
of the Royal Society for Arts and Manufacture. As a speaker, she was awarded
the UK's highest speaking honour when she was made Fellow of the Professional
Speakers Association.
With her latest venture, Jazzbizz, she combines her twin passions for business
and music by working with a live 6-piece jazz band to deliver powerful messages
on innovation and teamwork through the medium of music and the metaphor of
jazz.
Guest Presenter
We are also delighted to announce that Emma Crosby, from the
Sky Newsroom will be joining us as our Guest Presenter for the evening.
Emma Crosby joined Sky News' presenting team in June 2003.
She is a presenter of Sky News Today alongside Dermot Murnaghan which
is broadcast from 0900 - 1300 week days.
One of the youngest of the on air presenting line up, Emma has risen rapidly
through the broadcasting ranks cutting her teeth on high profile stories making
the headlines at home and abroad. Emma was part of the team which recently won
a BAFTA for Sky News' coverage of the Glasgow Airport Attacks.. Emma regularly
presents Sky News' business coverage including head line stories such as the
nationalisation of Northern Rock and the fall out from the US sub prime mortgage
crisis. For the past two years Emma has co-hosted HSBC's Start-Up Stars Awards,
which celebrates business entrepreneurs.
Emma has an in-depth knowledge of the world of Business and Finance. She joined
Sky from CNBC Europe, where she presented European Market Wrap. She also had a
stint as a reporter for CNBC US' flagship breakfast show Squawk Box and presented
the early breakfast show Wake Up Call live from Times Square in New York.
She began her career as a producer at BBC News 24, followed by spells newsreading
at London's Radio News Direct and LBC. In September 1999 she joined The Money
Channel as a reporter and newsreader, where she stayed for a year and a half
before moving to London Tonight and Meridian Tonight as a reporter.
Emma trained at the University of Cardiff's School of Journalism after gaining a University of Leeds degree.
