Global people intelligence firm Armstrong Craven is open for business in the Asia Pacific region, having recently established its presence in Singapore.
The search, pipelining and business insight firm took the decision to set up operations in Singapore in 2014 to build on long established global relationships and to support key clients in the region. Helen Coult, Vice President, Asia Pacific, is managing these relationships as well as seeking to build new relationships across APAC with regional and international businesses.
Commenting on Armstrong Craven’s work in Asia, Coult said there is particular demand for the firm’s talent pipelining and succession offerings as well as senior level search assignments for multi-national companies with regional hubs in South East Asia:
“One of the biggest challenges is the lack of talent; organisations are feeling the pressure of fishing in the same talent pool, especially in Singapore where it’s becoming more difficult to hire expatriate workers. The resulting high level of employee turnover is compounding the pressure on businesses, and it is the norm in the market for employees to regularly move companies.”
Top of the agenda when discussing people challenges with clients is the demand for ‘local talent’. Coult believes local talent, especially returning national talent, can provide some of the solution to the talent shortage. She said:
“There is a lot of discussion about local talent and what that actually means. To some its nationality, to others it’s a combination of skills, languages spoken, permits held, mind-set and ethnicity too. There is also a brain drain in Asia at the moment as up and coming top talent is moving out of APAC to gain more global experience. When these people are ready to return, companies have the opportunity strike the balance between local understanding and global mind-set.”
Armstrong Craven offers truly global searches, and builds pipelines of international talent and returning national talent. The firm also specialises in finding passive talent and specialist talent with niche skills.
