Overview

One of the world’s leading financial services companies wanted to understand the feasibility of identifying and attracting individuals from outside of the wealth management sector to senior relationship management roles in global emerging markets.

The Challenge: Professional services talent with a strong network in the Russian market

Armstrong Craven was initially engaged to identify talent working elsewhere within professional services with a strong network in the Russian market but who had had exposure to a globally-operating business and international / Western culture.

Our Approach

Armstrong Craven targeted relevant individuals who, through their respective professions, have a network of wealthy Russian clients. Our primary focus was on professional services institutions (e.g. auditing houses and law firms) but also identified talent operating in areas such as investment banking and asset management.

The majority of the individuals targeted were based in Russia and particularly within Moscow, but we also cast our net wider to simultaneously target relevant professionals in London, Switzerland and Singapore. We were specifically aiming to identify and pipeline candidates with the capability to work at Director or Executive Director level.

Once we had established our long-list of target professionals, we sought to engage all individuals to understand whether there was interest in developing their careers in a senior relationship management position within the wealth management sector. Our client’s name was kept confidential throughout the process.

The Results

As a result of our work, the client received:

  • Market insight findings around the feasibility of attracting candidates from outside of the wealth management sector in global emerging markets.
  • A long-list, including career biographies, of all individuals targeted and recommended by Armstrong Craven.
  • A short-list of all potential, interested candidates including career biographies, CVs and a summary including their interest in moving into wealth management and our assessment of their ‘fit’ with our client.
