Overview

A fast-growing global biopharma with life-changing medicines in the therapy areas of sleep and oncology/ haematology was accelerating its growth in Europe. They felt they needed a partner on the ground who would support them in their international expansion in the European continent and were interested that we could provide a sourcing solution, not simply with an outsourced head.

The organisation wanted a flexible partner which would be able to support them across all levels of positions in the continent. The right partner needed the capacity to scale up quickly and operate across borders with the same agility, language capabilities, and market knowledge as local recruitment companies.

The Challenge: Attract Talent to an Emerging Brand in the Market

The brand was unknown both in Europe and in their target therapeutic areas. Therefore, sourcing teams would need to rely on Talent Acquisition to sell the vision and goals of the brand over any existing reputation and track record to the target talent market. The solution we offered was to hire an outsourced Talent Scout, which would integrate within their talent acquisition team but were supported by a “research engine” based at Armstrong Craven Headquarters. On top of this, we could provide a scalable resource, allowing them to add extra Talent Scouts when needed and reduce to the one when not.

The Solution

Our Talent Scouts were tasked with working on large volumes of positions, at times building sales teams in Germany, Italy, and France, for example, or working on complex, technical positions. Our talent scouts would work using an executive search approach, first identifying the best talent in the market, then fully qualifying each candidate and understanding their career goals before submitting them to the internal recruitment team, taking care of everything but the interview and offer process.

The organisation used our Talent scouts to deliver end-to-end recruitment solutions or to provide talent maps and insight for open positions, as their talent acquisition team required. We provided their team with a sole point of contact and account management, and additional outsourced heads were added based on the specific needs of the projects we were working on.

The Outcome

The partnership lasted for over two years, and during this time, we supported Talent Acquisition on 50 talent mapping and pipelining projects across the Europe & International region.

Across this diverse geography, our Talent Scouts were able to map and reach out effectively to candidates meeting specialist technical and cultural attributes:

  • The majority of our work was ex-UK (66%). In over half of those assignments, candidates were approached in their native language (i.e., German, French, Italian, Spanish), reducing the need for local agencies.
  • 50% of candidates sourced were interviewed, indicating a strong understanding of role requirements (these roles were niche, and we were working across a diverse req load)
  • 1 in 3 candidates interviewed reached the final stage, matching stakeholders’ varying expectations in regard to personal attributes and affiliate-level culture
  • 1 in 3 candidates reaching the final stage was offered

Our talent scouts fully integrated into the organisation's talent acquisition team, helping to source all their needs through the European market. To learn more about our talent research service, which includes insights, talent mapping and pipelining, speak to our team today.
